Boy’s Basketball VS Timpanogos

The MC boys had high hopes going into their first home game versus Timpanogos. After a scoreless three and a half minutes, Timpanogos achieved the first 3 pointer, answered immediately with a bucket by Mountain Crest’s Kordell Welch. It was a back and forth battle until the end of the first quarter, where the Mustangs pulled ahead, 17 to 15. MC held on to the lead up until there were four minutes left of the second quarter. Again, there was a back and forth battle in points although, this time, it resulted in Timpanogos taking control of the first half, ending eight points ahead of our thirty. The second half was not as successful as the first for MC, as an eleven point lead by Timpanogos concluded the third quarter. Having seemingly lost their energy, Mountain Crest fell to Timpanogos 57 to 78. Despite the final score, there were undeniably great performances by the Mustangs. Kordell Welch had a solid 19 points for MC, followed by 12 points achieved by Marshall Nethercott. Ethan Wilson scored 10 points. Treven Leishman, Matthew Barber and Austin Young also scored for Mountain Crest. It was not the result they were hoping for, but there is much potential for the Mustangs as the season is still young.
