MC Juniors Perspective on this years, 2022 Homecoming Football game
September 12th-16th, 2022 Mountain Crest high school homecoming week. This year’s homecoming game was one to remember for mountain crest high school. The past few years our football team has been through 3 different coaches which has been difficult, but most of these boys love their new coach Visser. Seth Burbank, a sophomore at mountain crest says, “Somethings I love that he does is team activities to help us get closer, our past coaches used to just shut down when we would lose but our new coach continues to coach.”
The team this year didn’t start off to great, especially in our game against Ridgeline high school. Lots of fans were intrigued on how our homecoming game against Green canyon would go after the loss the week before. Casey Crofts, varsity Quarterback, was asked what the mindset of the team was after the loss. “We were going to forget the loss and come back strong.” Says Crofts. “Our coach is smart, we forgot about the game and moved on.” Porter Kennington, who had a great sac end of the game, agreed saying, “I had one thing on my mind the entire game, we gotta beat them.” Porter was then asked if he was focused on a certain strength on the opposing team. “No, their running game was pretty weak.” The first quarter of the game they were working out the first quarter Jitters. The boys knew they were going to work hard to win this for the school.
Will Dekorver states, “Our whole defense played good. We had so much confidence which will positively affect our future games in how well we play.” Defense was the hot topic this game. Dax Benson also tells us, “Our whole defense just played really well as a team which really gave stability to our game.” The defense worked well together and everyone noticed, they carried our team to a win. Mountain crest football team ended up winning 14-0 with a 16 yard touchdown pass Crofts to Phelps in the second quarter and a Dontay McMurtrey 13 yard touchdown run in the forth.
