Hustle. Hit. Never Quit.
B.L.U.E. Baddest. Loudest. United. Everyone, we are number one! Mountain Crest Volleyball’s motto couldn’t be more accurate. They walk on the court determined, and they walk off the court determined. Always playing their best, regardless of the circumstance.
On September 15th, Mountain Crest played Green Canyon, and faced a disappointing loss, 0-3. Having lost three of their major starters, the team is still adjusting and learning how to play without them. Player Piage Eggbert, speaking of the loss, said, “It was a tough game, but I thought everyone played super well.” Kylee Atkinson has said she is proudest of her team for “coming together… and still giving it our all to every game.” So even though the team didn’t take home a win, they were satisfied with themselves and their performance. By their standard, they are still number one.
Later that month, while playing Skyview on their home turf, they had somewhat of a freaky interference. Eggbert relates the experience, “It was another tough game, Skyview had won the first two sets and we were fighting in the third, when there was a blackout.” This rare occurrence surprised everyone. With no backup lights or a way to see, they were forced to stop the game, and continued the following Monday. Unfortunately, their team was defeated, however their spirits were not. “We still fought really hard!” Eggbert continues, “hopefully today we beat Logan!!”
Dr. Rob Colbert once said, “Team unity and team chemistry is by far more important than talent” The volleyball team is the perfect illustration of this quote. They do have talent, and are growing it game by game, but they’re unity is impeccable. Before every game, they all sing together to get hyped, then they cheer in the middle of the floor and discuss all of the things they are going to do well on. “Our team’s biggest strength is probably having fun. When we’re having fun, we do really good.” Eggbert says, “we’re all best friends.”
When the volleyball team played their third region game against Logan, they were excited to see their success pay off. They took the game with a score of 3-1. The coaches and athletes were both thrilled to see their hard work form results. They have continued to give it their all in practice and look forward to more wins in the future.
B.L.U.E.: Baddest. They never give up. Loudest. They cheer and sing till they can’t anymore. United. They build relationships and are in it together. Everyone, the Mountain Crest Volleyball team in number one!!
