Halloween Dancing with the Stars Assembly- The process
This year Halloween featured one of the best Halloween Dancing With the Stars assemblies.
The assembly pairs 2 students together and they are to create, practice and preform the routine they make. Each couple performs the predetermined dances and competes against the other pairs of couples for judges’ points and audience votes.
This year’s Assembly had 7 couples, Hallie Mcbride and James Hobbs, Jud Wells and Lily Corbridge, Gracie Mangum and Ashton Reed, Marisa Ferguson and Micheal LeFevre, Lulu Stowers and Dax Benson, Liza Haslam and Mack Anderton, Allie Taylor and Hyrum Staffanson. Each couple had many different genre’s of dance that were brought to the table to make a successful Assembly of fun.
To begin the process of the Halloween Dancing with the Stars Assembly, Exec and the Student government asked individuals to be in the assembly and pairs were assessed. The couples were told to find music, a genre, and keep it under 90 seconds to enter into the assembly on October 31st, Halloween, where they would perform in front of the school.
Next, the couples began to practice and form their routines. The couples also had the option to have Mrs. Shelton, the dance teacher help them with creating their routine. For a little more than 2 weeks the couples went into flex as much as they could and practiced with music and reciting choreography that they learned together.
After all the practices, the couples needed to find their costumes and finalize their routines. After doing so the couples came together in the blue gym for a dress rehearsal to have a better idea what performing was going to look like, as well as finalize their costumes. The couples were also made aware of how they needed to bow after their routine and stay on stage for their judges critiques and scores. The couples were excited for their performances.
Finally, the day came, Halloween. The couples were to come to Mrs. Shelton’s room at 8:20 to prepare and get dressed in their costumes to be ready for their performances.
Once the time began for flex to begin, all the students piled into the blue gym to watch and cheer for their fellow students. As well as The judges, Mr. Stevenson, Mr. Bagley, Mrs. Shelton, and Mrs. Sparks came to the judges seats and were ready to judge the couples. Each couple was very excited but also nervous for what was to come.
The assembly began with Jud and Lilly preforming their Teen Beach Movie inspired dance, dressing as bikers. They’re dance was very upbeat and the judges and crowd loved it.
Next up was Gracie and Ashton with the song ‘The Devil went down to Georgia” by The Charlie Daniels Band. Gracie dressed as a Devil and Ashton dressed like a cowboy. The dance featured many flips, lifts, and turns, with the judges giving it a good score!
Next, Hallie and James were out to the floor to shoe their 50’s themed duet, with the song “Beggin” by Maneskin. Hallie dressed in a poodle skirt and James in a leather jacket. James “begged” for Hallies love all through the dance and the crowd cheered along.
After Hallie and James, Liza and Mak were up to show their dance moves to the song “Shake Senora” by Los Bandidos del Rio. They moved their hips and the judges enjoyed the show.
Lulu and Dax were up to show their version of Micheal Jackson’s “The way you make me feel”. They had many lifts and partner work that left the crowd cheering for scores of 10.
After that, Ally and Hyrum reenacted the scenes from Disney’s “Aladdin”, with Hyrum being Aladdin and Ally being the Genie. The crowd and Judges absolutely loved the work that was put into the scenes and dancing
.
Finally, Marisa and Micheal were up to show their moves to Britney Spears, “Toxic”. They dressed up as The Joker, and Harley Quinn. The crowd loved their costumes and acting throughout the dance.
After all the dancing the crowd cheered while all the dancers came out to the floor to find out who the ultimate Dancing with the Stars couple was… The crowd cheered, and then the announcer, Mrs. Shelton said enthusiastically, “Lily and Jud” announced as the runner ups! Mrs Shelton then asked for a drum roll… “Allie and Hyrum! The winners!”
The crowd and judges cheered, they loved the assembly this year and most would say it was one of the very best Dancing with the Stars Assemblies.
