This interview focused on how books helped students’ mental health and made them not feel so lonely. When we were discussing what we wanted to do in this interview the subject of books got brought up and I asked if she would be willing to talk about that and use that as the subject of this piece.

When did you first really get into books? “About a year and a half ago. I wasn’t doing too well but I started reading and that really helped me”

What was the first book that made you really get into reading? “The series called the summer I turned pretty.”

How does it help you? “It allows me to not feel so alone. They give you another world to be in and characters to love. Books give you other things to do and give you a new world and new problems to deal with instead of your own.”

What genre do you read the most? “A  lot of books that deal with love and also sadness and heartbreak. A lot of books that are just written for teenagers.”

What’s your favorite book or series you’ve read so far? “My favorite is “It’s not summer without you” but it’s hard to pick just one book. I really love a lot of books and can’t pick just one really.”
